Training is key
Training is always something that has been on our hearts, so we were privileged to be invited to do training for the Shine FM team.
Therefore, early in April, we covered topics such as Shine FM history & vision, Community radio, Egotism, Knowing your listener, Planning your content, Presenting and Interview skills.
We had lots of laughs and got good feedback. One presenter from the early days of Shine FM came back for a refresher. Here were her comments:

Shine FM is On Air with a Permanent Licence
Shine FM has been awarded a five year licence by OFCOM!! The Station is now on air, broadcasting to Banbridge District and beyond. It's very encouraging and exciting news. Nathan presents a programme every Sunday.
When God originally gave us the vision for a full time radio station for Banbridge, it seemed like the wild ambition of a crazy dreamer. Now all we can say is, "God, you are faithful."
Many many thanks for your prayers and support for Shine FM through the years. Of course, we appreciate your prayers especially now that Shine FM will get the right presenters to share the Good News of Jesus with the listeners.
How It All Started
In November 1996, we were seeking God together and He spoke to us and said "I want you in Media and Broadcasting. It is to be a ministry of love, forgiveness and reconciliation." God also spoke to us about starting Shine FM which we did in December 1999 to usher in the new millennium.
The scripture that God gave us as a basis for this ministry was: Isaiah 60:1 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." NRSV
This scripture was the inspiration for Shine FM. We felt that God was calling His people to arise and shine. The message was clear especially for the church in Northern where years of secterianism, bloodshed and revenge had destroyed many lives. Therefore, after pioneering Shine FM we felt that God was calling us to hand Shine FM to the community and step more into new areas of Multimedia as we pursue God's word to us about sharing His message of love, forgiveness and reconciliation through media.
In 1998 God opened a door for us to be trained in broadcasting. After training we started recruiting volunteers in the community and run seminars to equip them with radio broadcasting skills. In these seminars we shared our vision and passion for sharing the message of God's love in media.
Shine FM is now a Community Radio Station with a Christian ethos broadcasting 24/7 to Banbridge, Northern Ireland, and the surrounding areas.
The media is an incredibly powerful tool that has huge potential to reach out with the good news. We are so excited at what God has ahead for us to do in this area.
Stepping Back
We decided that it was the right time for us to step back from an active role in Shine FM. This has been as much a step of faith as pioneering Shine FM was! The team has grasped the baton with great enthusiasm and faith believing that God can continue to make Shine FM a reality and touch people's lives through it. Our role now is to encourage the team and pass on any helpful information we've learnt over the years in media and broadcasting. It will take some time to pass on the knowledge we've picked up over the years to the new management.
