Be transformed like a butterfly!

"be transformed by the renewing of your minds."  Rom 12:2

The word Transformed here is Metamorphoo in Greek. Our mind has to go through this process. Enioy & Learn!

Another Helper

A Reflection by Nathan Asiimwe

John 14: 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. NLT

Your wife may leave you,
Your husband may leave you,
Your children may leave you,
Your friends, and
You riches may leave you even
Your health may leave you BUT…
The Holy Spirit will never leave you.

The Holy Spirit, your Advocate will stick with you through thick and thin.

When your boss says your job is over and the company you worked so hard to establish says we do not need you here any more, the Holy Spirit will be your comforter.

He will give you Encouragement when you’re discouraged,
He will give you Counselling when you are confused.

When you search for the truth,
When enemies are telling lies about you,
The Holy Spirit of truth will be your Advocate.

Rescued? Sing a Song

"He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.

He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord."      Psalm 40:2-3  NLT

Watching people pulled out of the rubble in Haiti moved me in many ways. Some survivors had limbs missing but what captured my heart was their singing. They did not come out swearing and cursing because of the earthquake but instead, these survivors came out with hearts full of praise.

Stop Complaining, Start Composing - there's a song in you whatever the weather!

Look Out in 2010

LOOK OUT! For new growth, promotion, opportunities, inventions, breakthroughs in medicine, science and technology - God is on the move with those who are willing to go to new heights in business, ministry and family. In 2010, I don't want to be left behind - do you?

A YEAR OF NEW BEGINNINGS

My heart is full of joy and expectation of what God is going to do in 2010. New and exciting things. This is a year of NEW BEGINNINGS!
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a NEW THING!"  Isaiah 43:18,19 NIV
When God says He is about to do a new thing, He is not joking or playing with our emotions. All we need to do is play our part - Forget our past failuares or successes and Trust God to show us those new and exciting things in our lives and ministry. Our God is The Creator, He loves creating and designing new things.
2010 is going to be a year of new beginnings and a fresh start for many who will not be pulled down by the heavy load of things that never worked in 2009.
Therefore, I choose to let go of the past and I embrace the future. I will enjoy the present and be thankful for what God is about to do in my life, family and ministry. This year is going to be a miracle filled year. Hallelujah, praise the LORD!

When God is silent - He is up to something

Have you ever wondered where is God when evil prevails? Why do the innocent suffer and the evil men and women seem to be enjoying life? Does God care when liars get a way with things and those who mock God live?

Well, worry no more God has got his hit list:

Psalm 50: 21 While you did all this, I remained silent,
and you thought I didn’t care.
But now I will rebuke you,
listing all my charges against you.

22 Repent, all of you who forget me,
or I will tear you apart,
and no one will help you.

God remained silent while you did all this:
  • You refuse my discipline

  • You treat my words like trash.

  • When you see thieves, you approve of them,

  • You spend your time with adulterers.

  • Your mouth is filled with wickedness,

  • Your tongue is full of lies.

  • You sit around and slander your brother.   Ps 50:17-20  NLT

But because God is full of mercy and loves us he says: Repent

A reason to dance

May this Christmas make you dance because of what He did, not because of what we do.

Your kingdom come

MAY YOUR KINGDOM COME

Matthew 6: 10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. NRSV

Whose kingdom and whose will are you advancing?

Is it:
Your position,
Your career,
Your culture,
Your tribe,
Your gender,
Your will?

May God’s Kingdom come not my kingdom.
May His will be done not my will.

Not my will but His Will,
Not my kingdom but His Kingdom.

When I see success and breakthroughs in my life,
Help me LORD to remember that:
  • I'm just a servant of a Great God,
  • I’m not a great servant of god.
  • You are the vine
  • I’m just a brunch.

What's in a Name?

I am Nathan Asiimwe

Do you like your name or do you know the meaning of your name? I believe parents can speak prophetically into the lives of their children even without realising it. To convince you on this let me tell you the story of my both names:

"Asiimwe" in my language means praise as in "Praise the Lord!"  No-one shares this name in my family. This may seem strange to Westerners (Muzungus) but to most Africans it's not a surprise because certain tribes name their children after events, mood, fortune, places etc.  For example, a child born on a rainy day might be called 'Rainman'!

For my mother to secure her marriage she needed to have a baby boy, but her first born was a baby girl. She needed a miracle with the second pregnancy to have a baby boy or else she would be divorced for having failed to have a boy who would carry on the family line. So in her heart she was crying out to God to give her a boy. And guess what? When I arrived on the scene my parents full of joy exclaimed, "Praise the Lord!"  What name would better suit me than praise the Lord?  So my parents named me "Praise the Lord!"  Lit. Mukama asiimwe.

Nathan means "He that God has given" or "A gift from God."

There you go, I am a gift from God! When my parents named me those beautiful names they didn't know what I would end up doing when I grew up....praising the Lord God. My love for God is so special that when I falter just a litle bit to the right or left in my journey because of the storms of life, I just sense the Holy Spirit whispering in my spirit..."this is the way walk in it, Nathan Asiimwe...praise the Lord!"

I believe I was born to praise the Lord. Although sometimes love can be hard I try my best to pursue love and peace with everyone in my sphere of influence because God loved me so much that he sent His Son Jesus to save me from my sins. He loves eveyone with the same measure of love. I believe everyone is special in God's eyes. Praise the Lord!

This looks like Greek to me!

greek alphabetIn September  this year 2009, I started learning Greek in Belfast Bible College.  We have a brilliant teacher and the students seem to be getting on well with each other as we plough through this unfamiliar territory! The challenge is learning Greek grammar by first having to relearn English grammar.  Plus I learn languages best by hearing and interaction - not through the scientific approach of dissecting words and phrases to get the meaning! However, I love the fresh insights learning Greek has given me into understanding God's word - the Bible.

Now to help you learn Greek faster than me :-) Watch this video that teaches the Greek alphabet in 10 mins.   You'd be surprised what you will learn to impress your friends!  After watching this video, my daughter Grace (age 6) is now well able to recite the Greek alphabet! Watch and have fun.   I would love to hear your feedback.
